McCoy Park neighborhood residents along with friends and family are invited to help us clean up the park at 15th Terrace and White Avenue and the surrounding neighborhood from 10:00 am until noon on Saturday, April 23. We'll provide the blue bags. At noon we'll serve hotdogs and refreshments to the participants.
For the past three years, the neighbors near the former McCoy Elementary School have advocated for the site becoming a community park and playground. Last week the KC City Council and the KC School Board agreed to move forward by transferring the property to the Parks & Recreation department. To celebrate Earth Day and this major milestone toward getting our park, we will come together to clean up trash accumulated over the winter months. In our ethnically diverse community, taking action toward a common goal breaks down all language barriers. While we haven’t designated this as an annual event, we had such a great turn out last year, we’re doing it again. Stay tuned for the park ribbon cutting in September.
