18th Street Reimagined

Two students from Iowa State University worked with members of the KC community to redesign a 1.5 mile stretch of 18th street. We wanted to reimagine 18th street, and see how we could make it a better place to live, work and play. Our goal was to create a connection with the Crossroads Art District and the 18th and Vine Historic Jazz District.

20th Streetscape

Brace yourselves, 20th Street is about to get a make over. The 20th Street Streetscape Project will start in Spring 2016 and is expected to be complete by Fall 2016. The project will transform 20th Street between Grand and Southwest boulevards into an inviting space in which pedestrians, cyclists, and automobiles can coexist—implementing community-driven recommendations from the 20th Street Streetscape Plan and supporting goals of the Greater Downtown Area Plan (GDAP).

KC Kids - Life and Art

Optimist Club hosts a public art show for youth. The project provides supplies for children who cannot afford art supplies. Optimist Club buys supplies; club volunteers work with children to create projects. Exhibits provides children an opportunity to experience an art gallery showing. We provide refreshments, an art auction, awards and more. This will be an ongoing project beginning May 2015.
