Wednesday Walks in Downtown KCK

Interested in local history, art, architecture, and culture? Make plans to join Downtown Shareholders in downtown KCK for Wednesday walks, themed walks, that will explore different areas of the community. We will meet on the third Wednesday of the month, starting in March 2015, from 12 noon-1 p.m. for a leisurely stroll that will not only give you a chance to meet your neighbors, but also explore the fascinating history, diversity, and culture that weaves together the fabric of downtown KCK.

Downtown KCK Healthy Campus

The Downtown KCK Healthy Campus is a new master development plan designed to help improve the health of Kansas City and other Wyandotte County residents by providing a state-of-the-art community center, more green space in which to exercise and access to healthy foods at a 30,000- to 35,000-square-foot urban grocery store. Other features of the plan include a permanent farmer’s market pavilion, recreational fields, housing options, urban agriculture, sidewalks and recognition of culturally relevant and historical sites.

Epic Arts

EPIC Clay Studio is an all-inclusive community clay studio in downtown Kansas City, Kansas open to ALL people of ALL ability levels. EPIC is a program of Accessible Arts in partnership with Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC). The studio started in a vacant store front by the Community Organization of CHWC. $3,000 and 1450 hours of volunteer time helped launch it 4 years ago.
