Pendleton Heights

Tool Library

Our tool library is a resource for people looking to do home repairs who currently do not own or have access to the necessary tools. The tool library includes home repair and garden tools for residents near Jerusalem Farm community garden in the Pendleton Heights neighborhood. Neighbors are welcome to fill out an application to borrow tools anytime.

Beautification & Improved Livability

The Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association installed custom bike racks along Lexington Avenue, the preferred bike route through the neighborhood. We will plant trees along streets without a canopy, install plantings at entrances into the neighborhood and will string subtle lighting along alleys where there have been recurring issues with late-night trash dumping and graffiti.

Growing a Green Space Project

"Growing a Green Space" is a project administered by the Pendleton Heights Neighborhood Association. This beautification project at the corner of Brooklyn Ave. and Lexington Ave. will include lighting, hopscotch, potted flowers, a chess table, and a bench for all neighborhood residents to enjoy. The Community Capital Fund was happy to support this project with a Tier 1 grant.

Jerusalem Farm Home Repair Program

Jerusalem Farm's home repair program provides home repair and modifications for low-income persons using volunteer labor (at no cost) and no-interest loans for materials. This helps create safer, more accessible and more energy efficient homes. The program provides a no-interest loan solely for the cost of materials, which can be paid back at a monthly amount, designated by the homeowner.

Pendleton Heights Community Garden

The Pendleton Heights Community Garden launched in Spring of 2013 and continues to grow every year! This project is in partnership with PHNA, Kansas City Community Gardens, and MU Extension. The garden occupies a long-vacant parcel at Brooklyn and Minnie in the heart of the neighborhood. Plots in the garden are available for lease to residents for personal gardening or residents can work in community plots in exchange for a share of the harvest.
