McCoy Community: Turning the Page on the Next 100 Years

Turning the former McCoy School site into a park with unique community amenities is our top priority. Our project is to construct Phase 1 of the park entrance. Our concept is to bring both recreational and educational elements into park, serving mind and body. To build the Reading Room we'll contract the construction of a 28-foot-diameter concrete pad surrounded by rock walls at sitting height. The project will serve as the stage for outdoor community gatherings, storytelling, performances, reading and playing games. To engage the community and foster ownership, residents will assist with the construction of the walls and plantings. For the future Phase 2 adjacent to this project, we plan to apply for an HDR Foundation grant to add chess tables, outdoor musical instruments and a Ping-Pong table.
