Code Neighborhood Accountability Boards

Jerusalem Farm started Code Neighborhood Accountability Boards (CNABs) to help low-income homeowners facing code violations, and with this funding, we would like to add a fund to help with the cost of repairs. The meetings are gatherings of key people including the homeowner receiving the violation, the person(s) who reported the violation and/or concerned neighbors, plus 3-4 trained volunteers who encourage a conversation toward a solution to the violation.

Indian Mound Community Events

We are looking to fund three neighborhood-wide community events. First, a summer fun day of activities in Budd Park, in partnership with local businesses on St. John and the Mattie Rhodes Center. Second, a pumpkin patch at Indian Mound Park, coupled with a trail walk and educational activities about nature and trail stewardship. Third, a block party as part of National Night Out partnering with local law enforcement for safety tips and how to start a block watch program.

Northeast Community Days

The 4th Saturdays of June (24th), July (22nd), and August (26th), we will host free, family events at Budd Park in Northeast KC. The first will be a large Block Party, in July we'll have a pool party, and in August we'll have a large slip-n-slide by the pool. At each event, we will have free food for all attendees.

Secure Gardening at 5415

The Indian Mound Neighborhood Association is building a fence around the Indian Mound community garden. Having a fence will prevent and discourage foot traffic through the garden. As a result of being located near a liquor store. the garden experiences loitering, litter, and, occasionally, damage to the plants. Neighbors will now have a more private and secure place for gathering. It will give neighbors more flexibility to garden on their own time individually.
